Lawro's League Update

It has been a while since we looked at the progress that Mark Lawrenson is making in his Premier League predictions. Following his latest predictions, there will only be eight more games to play in this year's campaign. Therefore, the table is starting to take on a shape that is not going to be very different to the final outcome in May.

Perhaps in an attempt to prevent people showing his predictions in league format, he has complicated matters by predicting some cup games instead of Premier League games. To get around this problem we have had to insert the actual result for the six games affected.

As you can see from the above table (click on it for a larger view), Lawro isn't doing all that badly in some ways. He has the top five teams correct, albeit in the wrong order, and two of the teams in relegation places make up his bottom two. The stand out mistakes are Swansea in a relegation spot rather than their superb 8th place, and Wolves in a safe 9th rather than propping up the table.

Lawro Strikes Back

While the Premier League according to Lawro's Predictions may well still look very different to reality, Mark Lawrenson actually had quite a good week predicting scores and results this week.

Man Utd may still have a lead over Man City at the top of the table, Wolves, Everton and Sunderland may still be fighting over a Europa League spot with Liverpool, and Newcastle may still be avoiding a relegation spot on only goal difference, but at least things didn't get too much more distorted.

Once again, click on the image to see the table in more detail.

One other thing to point out. Quite a few of the other websites covering the Premier League according to Lawro have Swansea in a relegaton spot on only 10 points. We've checked and double checked both our own and their results and this is definitely the correct table. Hint: They may want to check the prediction for the Wolves v Swansea game earlier in the season.

Lawro Latest

The big news this week in Lawroland is that Manchester United have opened up a gap over their close rivals Manchester City at the top of the Premier League. Chelsea and Arsenal hold the remaining two Champions League spots, while Sunderland remain in contention for a Europa League place.

Alan Pardew must be preparing himself for the annual NUFC P45 as his Newcastle team collected their 9th defeat of the season at Old Trafford and now find themselves escaping a relegation spot only on goal difference. No team has lost more games this season than the happless Magpies!

Click on the image above to see in more detail.

Let's wait and see what wonders Lawro has in store for us next week!

Predictably Awful!

So here we are eleven games into the Premier League season. Manchester City sit proudly on top of the Premier league closely followed in second place by their neighbours Manchester United. No shocks there then.

However, Liverpool are showing that their resurgence under King Kenny is still going strong as they remain unbeaten and occupy a Champion's League spot. Everton and Wolves are keeping up their good start to the season as they remain in contention for a Europa League place. Meanwhile Wigan sit safely in mid table, three places above a struggling Newcastle United who last time out suffered their seventh defeat of the season.

What alternative reality are we living in? The world according to Mark Lawrenson of course. We have totalled up all of the predictions from Lawro's predictions on the BBC website and turned them into a league table. So if you've ever wondered whether your team really do suffer from a Lawro bias then click the image below to see how his predictions compare to reality.

We will be keeping tabs on Lawro's predictions throughout the season so be sure to come back for another visit to see just how badly he is doing!
